Since graduate school, I have been fascinated with the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. His attention to the details of light, scale and use of natural materials which all combine harmoniously to create spaces that bring the outside in. Also, his acute attention to sightlines that extend beyond the walls are intriguing and just very cool. His designs really make you think about what he was trying to achieve. Check out Architectural Digest's tribute to some Mr. Wright's most interesting creations: http://www.architecturaldigest.com/architecture/2007-10/wright. I particularly love this 900 square foot cottage built in 1958. It's dramatic roof line coupled with tall windows and then a lower, longer wing with transom windows immediately identify to his unique style. It may be his birthday but we are the ones that on the receiving end of his gift.
